ML - MEMPHIS LAW MAGAZINE

ml 17 header general image

The 17th issue of ML - Memphis Law Magazine is full of stories about our faculty, staff, students and legal community.

This issue features an in-depth profile on Herff Chair of Excellence, Professor John Newman, as he returns to Memphis Law in his new role. Learn more about how he came to focus on antitrust and became a nationally reknowned expert in the field and what drew him back to Memphis from the sunny coast of Miami.

Our students contintually go above and beyond, but current 3L Landon Wilson may have the most impressive story of endurance, perseverance, and purpose amongst his peers. Read an in-depth piece on how Landon went from baseball all-star to aspiring future attorney after a tragic accident resulted in the loss of one arm. His injury did not define him or hinder him in any way, but instead drove him to new heights and inspired the decisions he subsequently took aimed at helping those in need of legal services, especially in rural communities like his hometown.

This issue also puts the spotlight on an impressive and well-known Memphis Law alumna in the Hon. Mary Wagner (JD '09), the newest member of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

And Professor Jennifer Brobst gets the faculty profile treatment, with an interesting look at what led her to the practice of law and academia, with her focus always remaining on the human element of the law and helping the underrepresented throughout her career.
