Student Outreach, Support and Advocacy
In establishing our commitment to a successful outcome for every student, the University of Memphis is dedicated to providing student support to ensure you do not have to navigate your academic journey alone.
Should challenges arise that require support, please do not hesitate to contact these areas, which work collaboratively with the entire campus community to provide accurate information and direct students to the appropriate resources to resolve their concerns. These resources help support but do not replace the function of academic advisors, the Counseling Center or any financial/business offices.
Student Outreach and Support
The Office of the Dean of Students is available to help you navigate difficult situations that many students may face. Examples include unexpected life events, personal crises, mental health struggles or academic difficulties. Should these or other similar challenges arise, the Office of the Dean of Students serves as a first line of support.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, the office can assist students in:

Understanding University policies and procedures

Problem-solving within the University and the community

Accessing referrals for personal matters and emergencies

Navigating the process for resolving academic concerns and complaints

Student Advocacy
In addition to the Dean of Students, the University has established student advocates to help with requests when all other avenues have been exhausted or if you do not know who to contact about a concern. For student advocacy assistance, contact studentadvocate@memphis.edu.
