Management Information Systems (MIS)


*The Management Information Systems (MIS) Department was formally the Business Information and Technology (BIT) Department. Therefore, some scholarships names reference the department by the former BIT name. Yet, all scholarships below, regardless of the name, are available for sutdents with a declared Management Information Systems (MIS) major.

BIT Advisory Council Scholarship

  • Candidates who are classified as juniors and/or seniors and have declared MIS as a major, and/are enrolled in 12 credits or more
  • Preference will be given to Tennessee and/or Memphis metro students
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated financial need and/or considered non-traditional students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 or higher, cumulative GPA
  • Special consideration will be given to the prior year's recipients(s) provided that the student continues to meet or exceed set criteria

 

BIT Charles and Edna Neumann Scholars Program

  • Registered and in good academic standing
  • Preference given for non-traditional student status, 1st in family, 1st generation, and/or single parents
  • Provide a one-page reflection paper about how technology has influenced the person's life for the better

 

BIT Charles and Edna Neumann Travelers Program

  • Registered and in good academic standing
  • A student is eligible to receive only one Research Presentation or Conference Travel Award per academic year and per conference
  • A student is eligible to receive funds for a study abroad trip related to business or to further his or her professional development
  • Provide a one-page reflection paper about how technology or study abroad has influenced the person's life for the better

 

Dr. Mitzi Pitts Scholarship

  • Declared MIS major
  • Must be a full time junior or senior
  • Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need and/ or are considered non-traditional age
  • Special consideration given to prior year's recipients who met criteria

 

John Burton Tigrett Innovator and Entrepreneur Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate majoring in business
  • Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Proven involvement and commitment to volunteer service
  • Must have demonstrated creativity, entrepreneurial aspirations and passion for innovation
  • Preference shall be given to students pursuing a degree in an academic program associated with the FedEx Institute of Technology, including but not limited to supply chain management, logistics and management information systems

 

The Lisa and Brian Janz Scholarship in Business Information and Technology

  • A full-time underrepresented undergraduate student in the MIS Department, or, secondarily, the Management Department
  • A student who has completed 60 credit hours, or will completed 60 credit hours, prior to the semester the scholarship award would begin
  • Special consideration will be given to the prior year’s recipient provided that the student continues to meet or exceed set criteria
  • Scholarship may be awarded for up to two years for undergraduate study within the Fogelman College of Business and Economics

 

Sedgwick FCBE Scholarship Fund

  • To provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are rising juniors enrolled and declared as Business Majors in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics (FCBE)
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates who major in Finance or Management Information Systems
  • Consideration will also be given to candidates who demonstrate financial need as determined after review of the student's completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to diverse candidates from under-served populations who meet all other requirements
