School of Communication Sciences and Disorders
Extended Program
University of Memphis 10-Semester Master’s Degree in SLP – Pilot Program
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at The University of Memphis is excited to offer a 10-semester M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology program designed for students who require a non-traditional, less intensive track. This extended-format program supports students with life circumstances that require greater flexibility such as the need to work, caregiving responsibilities, or other personal considerations while maintaining the same rigorous academic and clinical standards as our traditional track.
Students in the 10-semester program will receive high-quality classroom instruction and extensive clinical training, delivered by nationally recognized faculty in a program that has been ranked among the top in the country for over 20 years. Courses and clinical placements are held in person, and the curriculum mirrors that of the full-time program over an extended timeline of 10-semesters for those needing an extended program that is part-time.
Our students benefit from individualized clinical experiences at the on-campus Memphis Speech and Hearing Center as well as a wide range of external placements across hospitals, schools, and private clinics in Memphis and the surrounding areas. The program is designed to ensure that by graduation, students have the knowledge and skills required to enter the Clinical Fellowship and begin their professional careers with confidence.
