Accounts and Access
UofM accounts are issued to all university faculty, staff, and students.
Accounts at the UofM - How to get an account with the UofM?
UofM accounts provide faculty, staff, and students access to a variety of computing resources and online services. Account owners are issued a Universal User ID (UUID) and password necessary to access university resources.
Account Code - How to initialize your UofM account?
In order to begin utilizing University resources and online services, you will need to initialize your account. You do this by using an account code generated through iAM Identity Management. You will then begin the verification process by entering the 20 digit account code and birth date.
Directory Services
Central directory services provide standard based databases of user data. This is most commonly used by IT services to authenticate and authorize user account access to online service and resources. We centrally support both LDAP and Microsoft Active Directory.
Display Name - How do I change the way my name is displayed when I send e-mails?
Use this request to change the way your name is displayed when you send out an email. The display/preferred account name change gives you options on how your name displays.
iAM (Account Self-Service)
The iAM web service provides users the ability to self-service several account functions.
These functions include password reset, email routing, and vanity email address selection.
Note: If you have recently changed your password, forget and re-add all UoM wireless networks
on your all devices.
iAM (Duo Account Security)
Duo Account Security or two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your online accounts. Verifying your identity using a second factor prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.
Password - How to change your UofM password
Your password, along with your Universal User ID (UUID), grants access to all the
University's computing resources and online services. This account password should
be unique from every other password you use. The University requires all UUID passwords
to be changed every 6 months.
Note: If you have recently changed your password, forget and re-add all UoM wireless networks
on your all devices.
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Shibboleth Identity Provider is centrally maintained to provide both SAML and CAS compliant authentication services. These services limit reuse and exposure to user credentials by multiple services.
Sponsored Accounts - How to get a sponsored account with the UofM
Sponsored Accounts provide individuals who are not formally affiliated with the university access to computing resources. Access to computing resources allows them to support instructional research or administrative activities. These accounts have a limited duration (maximum 1 year), but can be renewed as needed.
Suspicious Activity - What's Suspicious Activity?
Suspicious Activity may suggest that an account has been hacked. It is the unauthorized use of an account by someone other than the account owner. Remember, ITS will never ask for your password via email or phone.
Universal User ID (UUID) - What's a UUID?
The Universal User ID (UUID) is the username shared among various university services. Your UUID forms your email address as follows: UUID@memphis.edu. For the student, the UUID is created upon admission to the University. For new staff and faculty, the UUID is created upon hire.
