Department of Theatre and Dance Academic Programs

The Department of Theatre and Dance is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), and offers a BFA degree in Theatre with concentrations in Acting, Dance, Dance Science, Entertainment Design and Technology, and Musical Theatre. Our MFA degree in Theatre offers specialized training in Directing and Entertainment Design and Technology.

The department is equipped with costume and scene shops and four performance and dance spaces. Our students work alongside faculty and staff to stage the department's award-winning productions and can also be found on the stages and behind the scenes of local theatres. Creating community and being part of the great Memphis community is an important component of our program, which currently supports approximately 100 undergraduate students and 15 graduate students.
