Accelerated Bachelors/Master's (ABM) Program
The University of Memphis offers a wide range of Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s (ABM) programs designed to help you get ahead. As an undergraduate student, you can take up to four graduate-level courses (12 credit hours) that count toward:
- Completing your bachelor’s degree
- A master’s degree
The best part? You’ll pay undergraduate tuition rates for these graduate courses—saving both time and money.
ABM programs are an excellent way to explore graduate study, build professional connections, and fast-track your career goals. With the right planning, you can graduate with your bachelor’s degree and be well on your way to earning a master’s—sometimes in less time than pursuing the degrees separately.
Note: Individual programs may have additional eligibility requirements. For details, check the appropriate section of the Undergraduate Catalog.
How the ABM Process Works
The Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s (ABM) program follows a few key steps to get you started and keep you on track:
- Initiate Coursework – You’ll need an invitation or sponsorship from program faculty and your undergraduate advisor, then meet with your advisor to confirm eligibility and program requirements.
- Submit the ABM Request Form – Your departmental approver will work with the Graduate School and Registrar’s Office to add the ABM designation to your record and process your approved courses.
- Get Registrar Approval & Register – Once approved, you’ll receive an ABM Permit to register for graduate-level courses.
- Grading & Credit – Graduate-level courses will count toward your master’s degree, while an equivalent undergraduate “shadow” course will receive a grade of Satisfactory (S) or Unsatisfactory (U).
