Comparison of Prescription versus Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids

Eligibility:
fluent in English, ages 50-85, have self-perceived mild to moderate hearing loss
Duration: 2.5 hours, between two separate sessions

Emotion Regulation Strategies’ Effects on the Voice

Eligibility: ages 18-70, normal hearing
Duration/Compensation: 90 minutes

We have openings through April and early May for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays. Email us with your availability! Volunteers, ages 18 to 70 with normal hearing are needed for research on how emotion regulation strategies affect our voices. The purpose of this research is to examine if, and to what degree, the way in which we regulate our emotions affect the sound of our voice.

The volunteer will participate in watching pictures of emotional content while engaging in specific emotion regulation strategies and vocalizing. The study should last about 90 minutes.

There is no monetary compensation.


Evaluating the Performance of New Self-fitting Hearing Aid Earbuds

Eligibility: 18 years or older, fluent in English, and have moderate or severe hearing problems in both ears.
Duration: This study has two phases, the first involves 1 visit for the hearing test. People who qualify can participate in a second phase which involves wearing the earbuds for 1 month and includes 2 additional visits.
Compensation: Participants will receive compensation corresponding to the phase for which they qualify.


Familiarity Study

Eligibility:
Adults (18 years or older) are eligible to participate if they use spoken English as primary mode of communication and either identify as neurotypical (i.e., not autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, OCD, etc.) or identify as autistic, a person with autism, or on the spectrum (formal diagnosis or self-identification accepted).
Duration: 45-60 minutes, four sessions, each one a week apart
Compensation: $10 digital gift card for each weekly session you participate in, if you participate in all four sessions you will receieve an additional $10 digital gift card for a possible total of $50 in gift cards. 

We are examining how people interact and communicate with people who have similar or different neurotypes (i.e., autistic, non-autistic). We are focusing on communication styles, accuracy, and interpersonal impressions.
