UofM SPH Attends Crump Boulevard Business Association Meeting Focused on Improving Downtown Memphis

August 20, 2025 — Representatives from various City of Memphis and Shelby County Government bureaus convened this month at the Crump Boulevard Business Association Meeting — a coordinated effort led by Memphis Mayor Paul Young’s office — to address crime and blight issues on the southern end of downtown Memphis.

During the meeting, Mr. Shular provided updates on the rise of student enrollment at the University of Memphis School of Public Health (UofM SPH), as well as the groundbreaking work of the Tennessee Dementia West Hub ECHO Program that was launched at the University of Memphis on June 4, 2025. The group also discussed new partnerships with organizations collaborating with UofM SPH and emphasized the critical need for student interns for the Spring 2026 semester to support ongoing public health initiatives.

This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of local government, academic institutions, and community partners to enhance safety and quality of life in downtown Memphis.
