Memphis Honors Flute Choir      

An advanced ensemble, the Memphis Honors Flute Choir gives students in grades 9-12 prime experience to improve their intonation, their technique, and their ability to play complex music together as an ensemble.


 

Memphis Honors Flute Choir Spring 2026

Description:

An advanced ensemble, the Memphis Honors Flute Choir gives students in grades 9-12 prime experience to improve their intonation, their technique, and their ability to play complex music together as an ensemble. Students get the opportunity to rotate on alto and bass flutes, and students with a passion for piccolo get a more refined outlet to explore. Directed by University of Memphis flute faculty Elise Blatchford, the Memphis Honors Flute Choir was accepted to perform at the 2025 National Flute Association Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.
Open to students in grades 9 through 12.   To audition, send a recording (audio or video) of the following:
  1. Major scales in two octaves: D major, Ab major, and E major
  2. Chromatic scale in three octaves, low C to high C
  3. One solo piece or a movement of a solo sonata or concerto (past All-West music is allowed)
 
Admissions are rolling and ongoing throughout the semester, but priority admission deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
