Earth Sciences

Department of Earth Sciences

Welcome to the Department of Earth Sciences. Founded in 2002, our 15 full-time faculty represent the disciplines of Archaeology, Environmental Science, Geography, and Geology. Here, excellence is personal through a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to Earth Science studies and research. Our faculty and students actively pursue innovative and applied education and research studies that might be difficult in more traditional academic departments. Earth Sciences maintains close ties to several centers and institutes on-campus including: The Institute for Agricultural and Conservation Research and Education (ACRE), the Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI), the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER), C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa, and the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology (IEAA). Our Archaeology faculty have common interests with other related programs at the University of Memphis
