Rita Green - Crews School of Accountancy

Dr. Rita Green has been part of the faculty at the Crews School of Accounting at the
University of Memphis for the last five years following her tenure as state specialist
for family financial management and assistant extension professor at Mississippi State
University. Her dissertation research explored financial wellness for consumers seeking
bankruptcy protection. Her interdisciplinary research interests include the household
balance sheet, consumer economics,and personal financial empowerment. She is a certified
personal and family finance educator and accredited financial counselor. Dr. Green
has been appointed to the IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Panel and also serves on the board
of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education. She was appointed
to the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education, and Economics (NAREEE)
advisory board by the USDA secretary, where she represented consumer interests for
eight years and has also served on the Community Development Advisory Council of the
Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
